Drug Detection Test
Drug detection tests are crucial in various scenarios such as pre-employment screening, certification issuance, driver’s license renewal, and some sensitive occupations, as well as before marriage. Two methods, rapid immunochromatography for initial screening and thin-layer chromatography for confirmation, are commonly used.
Today, rapid testing using immunochromatography methods for identifying and controlling substances has become widespread. One common method is the Lateral Flow Assay (LFA).
LFA drug detection kits are divided into two categories:
- Sandwich assay
- Competitive assay
Competitive assay kits are used for rapid drug detection. In the manufacturing of these kits, gold nanoparticle-conjugated antibodies specific to the drug in question are placed on a release pad. This antibody is set to detect at the cutoff concentration. When the analyte containing the drug sample passes through the release pad, nanoparticles attached to the antibody bind to the drug in the sample. A certain amount of the drug substance is placed on the test line. On the control line, anti-antibodies are placed. When the nanoparticles attached to the antibody reach this line, its color will turn bright, indicating a correct test result.
Characteristics:
- The cutoff limit varies by country according to their laws.
- Test results can be checked quickly, typically within 3 minutes.
- These kits are highly sensitive to moisture.
- The cutoff values (ng/ml) for each drug are as follows:
Drug Name Cut Off (ng/ml) Morphine (MOP) 300 Amphetamine (AMP) 500 Methamphetamine (MET) 500 Methadone (MTD) 300 THC (THC) 50 Tramadol (TRA) 300 Buprenorphine (BUP) 10 MDMA (MDMA) 500 Cocaine (COC) 300 Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) 1000
In the construction of these kits, gold nanoparticles are used, and the antibody for drug detection is attached to these nanoparticles.
Interpretation of results:
- If only the control line is visible, the test is correct, and the result is positive for the presence of the drug.
- If both the control line and the test line are visible, the test is correct, and the result is negative for the presence of the drug.
- If the control line does not appear, the test is invalid.
Instructions for use and storage:
- Store in a temperature range of 3 to 35 degrees Celsius.
- Wait for 3 minutes after applying the sample to ensure accurate results.
- Store in a dry environment.
- Keep away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid damaging or puncturing the packaging.
- These kits are for single-use only.
- Check the expiration date before use.
- Do not use if the package has been opened.
Safety and packaging:
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Each package contains one single-use detection kit.
- Each package includes a moisture-absorbing bag for kit preservation.
